Translators Needed – Portuguese, Spanish, and French

Our client is looking for individuals required to accurately convey simultaneous interpretation of French, Portuguese and Spanish for a conference held on November 24 -25, 2016.  

Applicants should be fluent in English as well as in hearing and speaking of at least one of these languages.

In this role, you will translate real-time communication that will happen without the involvement of the original speaker. 

 

You will sit in a sound-proof booth and interpret in real-time; so that listeners hear the simultaneous translation via headphones.

Your main tasks will be to: Interpret and translate between English and French or Portuguese or Spanish. Past experience with simultaneous translation and working with international and multilateral organizations is a plus.

You will be required to;

  • Provide friendly communication and service to program’s participants and event organizers;
  • Have excellent speaking and communication skills in English and Portuguese, Spanish, or French languages;
  • Excellent ability to switch quickly between languages, to find an appropriate word or expression in another language instantly;
  • Concentrate for extended periods of time, process a lot of information, therefore have physical and mental stamina;
  • Be culturally sensitive and aware of communication and diplomatic skills across cultures;
  • Uphold an invisible conduit, therefore not add anything to the situation but blend in;
  • Have very strong skills in both consecutive and simultaneous translation.
Successful applicants will be:
  • Enthusiastic and professional with impeccable language skills in both English and at least one of the mentioned languages;
  • Fluent in at least French or Portuguese or Spanish and English;
  • Excellent in communication and interpersonal skills;
  • well presented and client focused and is a dedicated team player.
  • Accreditation as a translator is an asset, but not essential.
